{"id":10480,"date":"2016-11-07T16:44:49","date_gmt":"2016-11-07T16:44:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=10480"},"modified":"2016-11-07T16:44:49","modified_gmt":"2016-11-07T16:44:49","slug":"strongly-supported-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=10480","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Strongly supported&#8217; strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>The two-day strike at IT giant Fujitsu in Manchester, which started earlier today (November 7), has been strongly supported by about 300 workers in the continuing dispute over pay, pensions and job security.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To drive home their concerns, the strikers, members of Unite are leafleting existing and prospective customers in Salford\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s \u00e2\u20ac\u0098media city\u00e2\u20ac\u2122, including ITV and BBC.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The 48-hour stoppage started at just after midnight today and follows on from a 24-hour strike last Tuesday (November 1) \u00e2\u20ac\u201c and the union warned that further strikes were on the cards, unless management agreed to constructive talks.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Today\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s strike highlights the 16 per cent gender pay gap that Unite has identified from limited data provided by Fujitsu, which means that women staff are paid an estimated \u00c2\u01415,500-a-year less than their male counterparts. Fujitsu is planning to cut 1,800 UK jobs &#8211; over 18 per cent of its UK workforce.
