{"id":10941,"date":"2017-01-05T16:04:18","date_gmt":"2017-01-05T16:04:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=10941"},"modified":"2017-01-05T16:04:18","modified_gmt":"2017-01-05T16:04:18","slug":"cause-for-concern","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=10941","title":{"rendered":"\u00e2\u20ac\u0098Cause for concern\u00e2\u20ac\u2122"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Today\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s (Thursday January 5) announcement that the Royal Mail has started a consultation process on the future of its pension plan is \u00e2\u20ac\u0098a matter of concern\u00e2\u20ac\u2122, Unite said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Royal Mail said it was consulting with the trade unions about the future of the plan from April 2018.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThis is a cause for concern to Unite and we will be looking to mitigate the impact of any proposed changes during and after the consultation process,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 commented Brian Scott, Unite officer for the Royal Mail.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe will also be strongly encouraging our members to participate in the consultation process.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe consultation is complex and the company needs to ensure that its employees, our members, clearly understand the potential impact on them, and the reasons and justification for the proposed changes,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 he explained.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The company statement said, \u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe member-wide consultation phase will end on March 10, 2017.
