{"id":11079,"date":"2017-01-13T13:55:16","date_gmt":"2017-01-13T13:55:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=11079"},"modified":"2017-01-13T13:55:16","modified_gmt":"2017-01-13T13:55:16","slug":"decent-basic-rights-call","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=11079","title":{"rendered":"Decent basic rights call"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Angry dock workers at Liverpool\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Seaforth container terminal working for Peel Ports have had enough and pictured today (January 13) are Unite members protesting over the atrocious poor conditions and lack of decent basic rights at the busy port.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nThese include the rights to access clean toilets, rest areas and canteen facilities for visiting workers and drivers.<br \/>\nConcerns have been raised that toilet facilities are appalling given that there are up to 350 workers working 24 hours a day, 365 days a year needing to use them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11082\" src=\"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/liverpool-dock-protest1.jpg\" alt=\"liverpool dock protest1\" width=\"480\" height=\"461\" srcset=\"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/liverpool-dock-protest1.jpg 480w, https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/liverpool-dock-protest1-300x288.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nThere\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s also no provision for hot food after 2 pm or at weekends \u00e2\u20ac\u201c as well as no trade union facilities for health, safety and workplace representatives \u00e2\u20ac\u201c despite a previous agreement to provide them. Members have had enough.<br \/>\nOver 800 members of Unite, dock workers and lorry drivers, are affected.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unite regional officer Colin Carr said, \u00e2\u20ac\u015bPeel Ports is investing millions making Seaforth the \u00e2\u20ac\u0098dock of the future\u00e2\u20ac\u2122.
