{"id":11135,"date":"2017-01-19T16:13:01","date_gmt":"2017-01-19T16:13:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=11135"},"modified":"2017-01-19T16:13:01","modified_gmt":"2017-01-19T16:13:01","slug":"mowing-workers-pay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=11135","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Mowing&#8217; workers&#8217; pay?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Over 60 members of the Unite union working for the high end chainsaw and lawnmower maker, Husqvarna are beginning a continuous work to rule and overtime ban today (January 19) in a dispute over pay.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The workers based in Newton Aycliffe in County Durham, making Flymos and robotic lawnmowers, are angry over the firm\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s refusal to improve on a pay offer of 2.3 per cent, plus a one off payment of \u00c2\u0141300.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Husqvarna\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s refusal comes after a record year in production and sales for the company and amid continued high demand for the company\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s outdoor power products.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bIn the past, our members have endured pay freezes and low pay rises on the understanding of better pay rises when the company is doing well,&#8221; said Unite regional officer Mark Sanderson.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bIt has been the commitment of Unite members and their attention to detail and flexibility which has powered the company to a record year and secured its reputation for producing fantastic quality products,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThis reputation risks being unpicked because of management\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s refusal to share the rewards of success and its use of inexperienced office staff to work over the weekend, who, we understand, are being asked to work on machines with minimal training.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThis may result in errors and a reduction in the superiority of the product.
