Iain Duncan Smith is earning nearly \u00c2\u01411,250 an hour making speeches on the back of his former post as Tory benefit slasher-in-chief.<\/p>\n

The former Work and Pensions Secretary – who infamously declared he could live on \u00c2\u014153 a week – was paid \u00c2\u014111,280 for two talks in December.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The amount, which is enough to pay for one person\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Bedroom Tax<\/a> for 14 years, was paid to Duncan-Smith following speeches at Leicester Tigers Rugby Club and 2Plan Wealth Management in Leeds.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He earned \u00c2\u01415,000 for speaking at the rugby club and was paid \u00c2\u01416,280 for the 2Plan Wealth Management speech; where he was billed as \u00e2\u20ac\u015bFormer Secretary of State of Work and Pensions 2010-2016\u00e2\u20ac\u0165.<\/p>\n

Duncan-Smith spent nine hours preparing the speeches, meaning his average hourly rate was \u00c2\u01411,253. The sum is on top of his annual \u00c2\u014175,000 salary as an MP.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u015bIan Duncan Smith will be remembered as a cold hearted and hypocritical Work and Pensions Secretary. His savage benefit cuts have unleashed untold misery and suffering for thousands of people,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 said head of Unite Community, Liane Groves.<\/p>\n

Removed from reality<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Duncan-Smith\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s speaking circuit engagements were declared in the latest register of MPs\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 interests. Since he quit as Work and Pensions Secretary last March, Duncan-Smith has earned \u00c2\u014116,780 from giving talks.<\/p>\n

The latest MPs\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 interest register also revealed that former cabinet minister Michael Gove received \u00c2\u01415,000 for an hour long speech to the big business accountancy firm PwC.<\/p>\n

Although former Chancellor George Osbourne<\/a> did not record any extra income on the most recent register, he has earned \u00c2\u0141627,891 from public speaking in the few months since his sacking.<\/p>\n

The multi-millionaire, who told austerity<\/a> hit families that \u00e2\u20ac\u015bwe\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re all in this together\u00e2\u20ac\u0165, pocketed \u00c2\u0141508,069 for 19.5 hours work on after-dinner speeches in the US \u00e2\u20ac\u201c a rate of \u00c2\u014126,055 an hour.<\/p>\n

David Cameron<\/a>, who quit as an MP shortly after resigning as Prime Minister, is also thought to be adding to his personal fortune on the US speaking circuit. However, since leaving Parliament Cameron no longer needs to declare his financial interests.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u015bCameron and his former cabinet chums subjected this country to years of punishing austerity. They plunged Britain into an era where low paid and insecure work, crippled public services and the neglect of the poor and vulnerable has become the norm,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 said Unite assistant general secretary, Steve Turner.<\/p>\n
