{"id":11412,"date":"2017-02-09T16:47:09","date_gmt":"2017-02-09T16:47:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=11412"},"modified":"2017-02-09T16:47:09","modified_gmt":"2017-02-09T16:47:09","slug":"unite-welcomes-tata-sale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=11412","title":{"rendered":"Unite welcomes Tata sale"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Unite said it looked forward to working closely with Liberty House to secure the future of advanced steelmaking in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It followed today\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s (February 9) announcement that Tata Steel has signed an agreement to sell its Speciality Steels business to Liberty House Group for \u00c2\u0141100m.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The business employs 1,700 workers making products for the aerospace, automotive and oil and gas industries, and has several sites in South Yorkshire.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThis is a welcome step which will begin to provide a degree of stability for our members in the speciality steel business,&#8221; said Unite national officer Tony Brady.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe workforce makes some of the most advanced steel in the world and has worked hard to secure the business\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s future,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Unite is looking forward to working with Liberty to gain a greater understanding of its plans for the future of the business and ensure that it continues to go from strength to strength.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bTata Steel must now focus its energies on delivering on its promises to the remainder of its workforce.
