{"id":11836,"date":"2017-03-20T16:29:16","date_gmt":"2017-03-20T16:29:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=11836"},"modified":"2017-03-20T16:29:16","modified_gmt":"2017-03-20T16:29:16","slug":"pay-deal-rejected","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=11836","title":{"rendered":"Pay deal rejected"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Members of Scotland\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s biggest offshore trade union have voted to reject a pay offer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a consultative ballot, 81 per cent of Unite members voted to reject the latest deal put forward by their employers, represented by the Offshore Contractors Association.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is the second pay offer rejected by members. In December, 85 per cent of Unite members voted to reject a previous OCA proposal that would have seen no increase in their pay and no improvement to their terms and conditions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe have repeatedly warned the OCA employers and other offshore employers that we cannot simply have a race to the bottom, with companies competing with each other to suppress the pay and conditions of offshore workers,&#8221; said Unite regional officer Tommy Campbell.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bIt\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s bad for our members and it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s bad for the local economies that rely on their incomes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThose companies who invest in their workers and see them as genuine partners will reap the benefits in the future,&#8221; he added. &#8220;Those who don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t will end up lagging behind, and will always face the possibility of industrial action from their workforce.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe will now consult with our union members and Unite workplace representatives about the way forward, given they now have a mandate for an industrial action ballot following the rejection of the pay offer.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unite is seeking a significant wage increase for members, along with improved sick pay and paid travel time to an employer\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s onshore base.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Members of Scotland\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s biggest offshore trade union have voted to reject a pay offer. &nbsp; In a consultative ballot, 81 per cent of Unite members voted to reject the latest deal put forward by their employers, represented by the Offshore Contractors Association. &nbsp; This is the second pay offer rejected by members.
