{"id":11906,"date":"2017-03-28T12:08:04","date_gmt":"2017-03-28T11:08:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=11906"},"modified":"2017-03-28T17:06:21","modified_gmt":"2017-03-28T16:06:21","slug":"pension-robbery-protest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=11906","title":{"rendered":"\u00e2\u20ac\u0098Pension robbery\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 protest"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>A group of BMW workers from the UK will be handing in a petition and protesting outside the carmaker\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Munich headquarters in Germany tomorrow (March 29), demanding that BMW Group bosses stop their \u00e2\u20ac\u0098pension robbery\u00e2\u20ac\u2122.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Unite members, who make engines as well as the iconic Mini and Rolls-Royce motorcars at Cowley, Goodwood, Hams Hall and Swindon, are heading over to the Bavarian capital as part of their battle against BMW\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s plans to close their final salary pension scheme.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Brandishing placards and banners the workers will be protesting and handing in the petition at BMW\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Munich headquarters to senior executives Hubert Schurkus and Erich Thanner from 9.30am (CEST) or 8.30am (BST).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s protest comes just days before a strike ballot closes on Friday (March 31) over the planned closure of\u00c2\u00a0 the BMW occupational pension scheme, which could see some UK workers lose up to \u00c2\u0141160,000 in retirement income.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bBMW bosses in Munich need to wake up to the anger their plans to close the occupational pension scheme has generated among loyal UK workers,&#8221; said Unite national officer Tony Murphy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bIndustrial action is a very real possibility by a workforce which has contributed significantly to the BMW Group\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s record breaking profits and sales,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bUK workers feel as though they are being taken for a ride.
