{"id":12364,"date":"2017-05-15T16:24:39","date_gmt":"2017-05-15T15:24:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=12364"},"modified":"2017-05-15T16:24:39","modified_gmt":"2017-05-15T15:24:39","slug":"incredible-disrespect","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=12364","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Incredible disrespect&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Unite the union has accused whisky giant Chivas Brothers of \u00e2\u20ac\u0098disrespect\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 to workers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The company \u00e2\u20ac\u201c owned by French-based multinational Pernod Ricard \u00e2\u20ac\u201c confirmed in November last year that it wants to close its operations in Paisley, moving bottling work to Kilmalid near Dumbarton.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In talks with West Dunbartonshire Council about its plans for a new factory in Dumbarton, Chivas managers said the Paisley site \u00e2\u20ac\u0098did not deliver an efficient operation\u00e2\u20ac\u2122.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unite regional officer Pat McIlvogue said, \u00e2\u20ac\u015bOur members at Chivas help deliver massive profits. We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re talking about a company that makes \u00c2\u0141318m a year, and which earns \u00c2\u0141227,000 per employee. In that context, to accuse any of their workers of being \u00e2\u20ac\u0098inefficient\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 shows incredible disrespect.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThat disrespect is also shown by the recent paltry wage offer that Chivas has made to workers at Paisley and at Kilmalid, which could see them lose money in real terms.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe best companies do well on the back of the hard work of their staff, but they recognise that they need to share the rewards of success and treat their workers with basic decency and respect.
