{"id":12651,"date":"2017-06-21T15:33:41","date_gmt":"2017-06-21T14:33:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=12651"},"modified":"2017-06-21T15:33:41","modified_gmt":"2017-06-21T14:33:41","slug":"proper-pay-rise-call","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=12651","title":{"rendered":"\u00e2\u20ac\u0098Proper\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 pay rise call"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Unite members employed by the private contractor Serco, working at Barts Health NHS Trust, have overwhelmingly voted to strike for a proper pay rise.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A massive 99 nine per cent of workers that took part in the ballot voted yes to strike action.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bLow paid cleaners, porters and security staff have voted for strike action by a massive majority because they have seen their real living standards drop year on year,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 said Gloria Sindall, Unite regional officer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Strike action \u00c2\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Workers are now planning a\u00c2\u00a0three day strike starting on Tuesday July 4, followed by a seven day stoppage starting on Tuesday July 11\u00c2\u00a0and then a 14 day strike starting on July 25. Further strike action will also be planned for August and September.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWorkers are now demanding a 30p per hour wage increase. Serco made over \u00c2\u014180m in profit last year but managers are refusing to share these earnings fairly and protect the living standards of the workers,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 commented Gloria.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Serco won the \u00c2\u0141600m soft services contract for Barts Health NHS Trust last year.
