{"id":13185,"date":"2017-09-05T16:55:28","date_gmt":"2017-09-05T15:55:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=13185"},"modified":"2017-09-05T16:55:28","modified_gmt":"2017-09-05T15:55:28","slug":"awe-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=13185","title":{"rendered":"AWE win"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Workers at AWE plc &#8211; the Atomic Weapons Establishment \u00e2\u20ac\u201c have accepted \u00e2\u20ac\u0098the best possible deal available\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 to resolve the long-running pensions dispute.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unite said its 800 members had accepted a four per cent pay deal for each of the next three years and enhanced allowances, in return for dropping its campaign for reinstatement to the Ministry of Defence pension scheme.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The new deal, which is backdated to June 1 this year and covers the years 2017-2019, also includes uplifts to the high hazard allowances and overtime rates for all staff.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bBasically, our members have voted to accept a substantial pay increase now, rather than continuing the pensions\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 dispute indefinitely which would not have been in the interests of all the parties involved,&#8221; Unite regional officer Bob Middleton said. &#8220;Given all the circumstances, this is the best possible deal available.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThere are some generous uplifts in pay, for example, the firefighters&#8217; package will jump from \u00c2\u014131,000 to \u00c2\u014148,000 a year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThis result would not have been possible without the tremendous solidarity our members have shown since the first strike action last November.
