{"id":13226,"date":"2017-09-07T13:45:15","date_gmt":"2017-09-07T12:45:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=13226"},"modified":"2017-09-07T14:18:02","modified_gmt":"2017-09-07T13:18:02","slug":"completely-unacceptable-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=13226","title":{"rendered":"\u00e2\u20ac\u0098Completely unacceptable\u00e2\u20ac\u2122"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Unite members at the Sellafield nuclear reprocessing plant are holding a ballot for strike action over a \u00e2\u20ac\u0098completely unacceptable\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 1.5 per cent pay offer that has been imposed by management.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ballot papers for the union\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s 2,000 craft and staff members at the Cumbria site will start dropping onto doormats from Wednesday, September 13. The ballot closes on Monday October 2.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sellafield Ltd &#8211; a Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) company &#8211; has imposed a 1.5 per cent pay award from this month, backdated to April 1.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWith the RPI inflation rate running at 3.6 per cent and the CPI rate currently at 2.6 per cent &#8211; and projections by the end of 2017 of four per cent and three per cent plus respectively &#8211; our members can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t realistically accept a paltry 1.5 per cent pay rise,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 commented Unite regional officer Graham Williams.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe imposed offer comes on the back of a 0.25 per cent increase last year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe calculate that if our members accepted this offer, taking into account last year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s minimal rise, our members would be \u00c2\u01411,700 worse off in real terms, which is completely unacceptable, as inflation takes off,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 he added.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Williams believes Tory-driven austerity is behind the move.
