{"id":13587,"date":"2017-09-26T16:05:51","date_gmt":"2017-09-26T15:05:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=13587"},"modified":"2017-09-26T16:05:51","modified_gmt":"2017-09-26T15:05:51","slug":"cautious-welcome-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=13587","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Cautious welcome&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>A \u00e2\u20ac\u0098cautious\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 welcome has been given by Unite to a proposed joint venture of two UK poultry heavyweights which will employ 6,000 workers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The merger is between Cargill\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s UK fresh chicken division and Faccenda\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s fresh chicken, turkey and duck business.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unite\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s lead national officer for the food sector Joe Clarke said, \u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe are giving this proposed merger a cautious welcome. It is early days for this joint venture, but we think that this agreement may be a positive development for both businesses.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bIt will increase the strength of these companies within a very tough sector, especially as Brexit looms,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe consultation process starts on 9 October and our goal is to get clarity about future job security for our approximately 2,000 members currently employed by these two companies.
