{"id":13761,"date":"2017-10-18T14:57:42","date_gmt":"2017-10-18T13:57:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=13761"},"modified":"2017-10-18T14:57:42","modified_gmt":"2017-10-18T13:57:42","slug":"empty-promises-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=13761","title":{"rendered":"Empty promises"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Unite accused the government of making empty promises over increasing the number of health visitors after shock figures released by the Labour party on Tuesday (October 17) showed a major fall in health visiting posts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nUnite, which incorporates the Community Practitioners and Health Visitors Association (CPHVA), pointed to Labour\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s figures that show the number of health visitors has fallen by 903 since 2016. According to Labour\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s analysis 12 per cent of babies have missed out on a new born visit in the most recent period.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nThe figures came ahead of Labour\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s shadow health secretary, Jonathan Ashworth\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s speech to the annual CPHVA conference in Cardiff on Tuesday\u00c2\u00a0(October 17). In his speech Jonathan Ashworth pledged\u00c2\u00a0to increase the number of health visitors as part of Labour\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s commitment to improving child and health wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unite national officer for health Sarah Carpenter said, \u00e2\u20ac\u015bThese figures show that the Tory government\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s promise to increase health visitor numbers are empty and based more on spin than substance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u015bOur members continually tell us of cuts to services and the devastation that they are having on families and communities.
