{"id":13835,"date":"2017-11-01T16:00:06","date_gmt":"2017-11-01T16:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=13835"},"modified":"2017-11-01T16:01:06","modified_gmt":"2017-11-01T16:01:06","slug":"restoring-drivers-dignity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=13835","title":{"rendered":"Restoring our dignity"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Unite has won a long\u00e2\u20ac\u201crunning campaign for the right of delivery drivers to use an employers\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 toilets while conducting deliveries.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>From this week employers in control of non-domestic premises are obliged to allow people who are not their employees but use their premises to access toilets and washing facilities.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The change in the regulations is a result of Unite\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s campaign to end the problem of drivers having to go to the toilet behind bushes, or have to continually \u00e2\u20ac\u0098hold on\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 due to being denied access to toilet facilities.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Having to continually hold on to use a toilet has wide ranging health implications which include: urinary tract infections, damage to the bladder and the bowel, and can cause toxins to build up in the body.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Women drivers have additional requirements to have access to toilets and face the additional risk of developing infections if they are denied such access.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The requirement to give access to toilets and washing facilities also means that drivers can ensure that their hands are clean and hygienic.
