{"id":14347,"date":"2018-01-12T15:41:51","date_gmt":"2018-01-12T15:41:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=14347"},"modified":"2020-11-12T12:59:13","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T12:59:13","slug":"reject-pay-offer-call","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=14347","title":{"rendered":"Reject pay offer call"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Unite is to hold a consultative ballot of its members in local government covered by the \u00e2\u20ac\u015bgreen book\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 with a recommendation that they reject the current pay offer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Members of Unite\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s National Industrial Sector Committee for local authorities yesterday (January 11) voted unanimously to reject the pay offer and to hold a consultative ballot of all affected members covered by the National Joint Committee (green book) agreement, with a recommendation that the offer is rejected.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Local government employers had made an offer of a two per cent increase from April 1, 2018 for the majority of local government and school support staff and a further two per cent in April 2019.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The offer covers staff in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Since successive Conservative government\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s introduced a series of pay freezes and pay restraint policies in 2010 the pay of local government workers has fallen by 21 per cent in real terms.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The current CPI inflation rate is 3.1 per cent while the RPI rate which includes housing costs is 3.9 per cent.
