{"id":14651,"date":"2018-02-21T17:04:34","date_gmt":"2018-02-21T17:04:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=14651"},"modified":"2020-11-12T12:59:08","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T12:59:08","slug":"edf-recognition-victory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=14651","title":{"rendered":"EDF recognition victory"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>The successful battle for the trade union recognition of EDF Energy workers transferred to Morrison Data Services has been hailed as a key victory by Unite.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>About 40 meter readers had unanimously voted for strike action if Morrison\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s, based in Newcastle, had not recognised the EDF workers after they had been transferred.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>However, following talks between Unite and the management under the auspices of the conciliation service, Acas, a recognition agreement was hammered out.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unite regional officer Onay Kasab said, \u00e2\u20ac\u015bThis is a significant victory which demonstrates that union recognition rights can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t be quietly forgotten and silently pushed into the shadows when workers are transferred between organisations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe issue was union recognition after EDF transferred its meter readers in the London, south east and south west regions to Morrison Data Services.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bFollowing the ballot for strike action the employers agreed to talks which took place under Acas\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 umbrella,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe result is a recognition agreement with Unite to cover that section of the business transferred from EDF to Morrison\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s.
