{"id":14760,"date":"2018-03-09T14:28:21","date_gmt":"2018-03-09T14:28:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=14760"},"modified":"2020-11-12T12:59:07","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T12:59:07","slug":"gkn-dana-merger-unite-assurances","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=14760","title":{"rendered":"GKN-Dana merger"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Unite called for assurances on jobs and investment after details of a proposed merger between GKN\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Driveline division and Dana emerged today (March 9).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Responding to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/business\/2018\/03\/09\/gkn-reveals-44bn-merger-automotive-business-fights-hostile-melrose\/\">news of a possible tie up<\/a>, Unite which represents over 500,000 manufacturing workers, said it would be seeking further detail on the deal from GKN and Dana, in addition to clarity on the future of GKN\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s aerospace division.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>News of the merger comes amid a <a href=\"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/gkn-takeover-probed-beis-hearing\/\">debt-fuelled takeover bid for GKN by Melrose<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bUnite has a relationship with Dana here in the UK and will be seeking further detail on the structure of a possible tie up with GKN\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Driveline division,&#8221; said\u00c2\u00a0Unite assistant general secretary for manufacturing Tony Burke. &#8220;Unite will also be liaising with American unions representing Dana workers in the US.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bGKN\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s automotive workers are at the cutting edge of electric vehicle technology and are central to the UK government\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s industrial strategy.
