{"id":15154,"date":"2018-05-03T16:42:00","date_gmt":"2018-05-03T15:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=15154"},"modified":"2020-11-12T12:58:46","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T12:58:46","slug":"pirelli-tyres-agency-workers-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=15154","title":{"rendered":"End &#8216;two-tier&#8217; workforce"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Unite members working on contracts by Staffline Recruitment Limited at the Pirelli Tyres site in Carlisle have begun balloting for strike action and an overtime ban this week in a dispute over pay and terms and conditions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The workers, including store workers, forklift drivers and process operators at the Pirelli production site, are balloting for strike action over low pay and the deterioration of workers\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 terms and conditions. Many of these workers are employed on a \u00e2\u20ac\u0098contract for services\u00e2\u20ac\u2122.\u00c2\u00a0 This means they are, effectively, on a zero hour agency contract with virtually no employment protection.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The ballot will close on Tuesday, May 15. If members vote in favour of strike action then walk outs could begin from end of May.
