{"id":15359,"date":"2018-06-12T11:00:07","date_gmt":"2018-06-12T10:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=15359"},"modified":"2020-11-12T12:58:42","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T12:58:42","slug":"ons-construction-figures-industry-contracted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=15359","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Shot in the arm&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Unite has called for urgent government intervention in the construction industry after figures published by the ONS this week (June 11) revealed that the industry contracted by 3.4 per cent in the three months to April.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe government\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s failure to provide proper support to construction has resulted in growth in the industry first stalling and now dropping,&#8221; said Unite assistant general secretary Gail Cartmail.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe government needs to establish a coherent infrastructure plan which establishes long-term projects throughout the UK, to benefit all regions.
