{"id":15539,"date":"2018-07-04T11:47:52","date_gmt":"2018-07-04T10:47:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=15539"},"modified":"2020-11-12T12:58:39","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T12:58:39","slug":"andy-burnham-wigan-nhs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=15539","title":{"rendered":"Scrap outsourcing plans call"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>In\u00c2\u00a0the latest intervention in a <a href=\"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/wrightington-wigan-leigh-trust-outsourcing\/\">Unite dispute against NHS outsourcing<\/a>,\u00c2\u00a0Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham today (July 4) responded to Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust&#8217;s decision to transfer staff into WWL Solutions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bI am disappointed that the Trust has decided to press ahead with the creation of WWL Solutions Ltd in the face of such strong opposition from staff,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bAlthough the Trust was able to make a number of guarantees around pay, terms and conditions, and pensions, it is clear that staff want to remain directly employed by the NHS both now and in the longer-term,&#8221; Burnham added.<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u015bStaff are proud to work for the NHS. Indeed, many of them do the jobs they do, working long hours and regularly going the extra mile, precisely because they work for the NHS.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bI fully appreciate the financial pressure that Trusts like WWL are under. But, since this proposal was first put forward, the Government has indicated that a new financial settlement for the NHS will soon be brought forward.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bI would therefore urge the Trust, even at this late stage, to put this proposal on hold and review it in the light of the changed financial context.
