{"id":15564,"date":"2018-07-04T18:22:12","date_gmt":"2018-07-04T17:22:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=15564"},"modified":"2020-11-12T12:58:38","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T12:58:38","slug":"transgender","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=15564","title":{"rendered":"Right to determine gender"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Unite policy conference delegates agreed yesterday (July 4) that any worker has the right to determine their gender identity without unnecessary medicalisation and that they support a review of the process of applying for a gender recognition certificate.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Delegates voted in favour of an executive statement jointly written by Unite\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s national women\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s committee and national <a href=\"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/tag\/lgbt\/\">lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans<\/a> committee and endorsed by the executive council.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The statement said, \u00e2\u20ac\u015bUnite recognises that there are people who do not identify as either male or female whose identities are not widely recognised by society.
