{"id":15656,"date":"2018-07-09T16:40:36","date_gmt":"2018-07-09T15:40:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=15656"},"modified":"2020-11-12T12:58:37","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T12:58:37","slug":"defence-workers-lobby-mps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=15656","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Back UK defence workers&#8217; call"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Defence workers from the across the UK will be heading to parliament tomorrow (July 10) to call on MPs to back their campaign for the navy\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s three new Fleet Solid Support (FSS) ships to be built in UK shipyards.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unite members from shipyards across the country will be gathering in Old Palace Yard to unveil a banner \u00e2\u20ac\u0098Back UK defence workers\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 ahead of a lobby organised by the Confederation of Shipbuilding and Engineering Unions (CSEU) which takes place from 12:30 in committee room 9 in the House of Commons.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The lobby follows warnings that the UK could miss out on an economic windfall of up to \u00c2\u01411.35bn if the government hands the build of the navy\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s three new FSS ships to overseas shipyards.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By 2020 25 per cent of spending on the UK\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s defence equipment will be benefiting US factories rather than manufacturers here in the UK.
