{"id":15960,"date":"2018-08-16T17:00:13","date_gmt":"2018-08-16T16:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=15960"},"modified":"2020-11-12T12:58:17","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T12:58:17","slug":"liquidator-fees-carillion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=15960","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Rewards for failure&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Unite is calling for an urgent review of the fees, major accountancy firms can charge when a company falls into administration, after it was revealed today (August 16) that following Carillion\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s collapse staff at accountancy giant PwC charged on average \u00c2\u0141356 a hour for their services.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the first eight weeks following Carillion\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s collapse in January, PwC billed \u00c2\u014120.4m for its services. It is expected that PwC will earn in access of \u00c2\u014150m as a result of Carillion\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s demise.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>PwC was appointed by the government in its role as official receiver to manage and then find new contractors for the company\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s outsourced contracts, break up and run down the business.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a letter to the joint parliamentary select committee inquiry into Carillion, PwC also admitted that some pension specialists were paid \u00c2\u01411,156 an hour for their work, the highest rates charged.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bUnite is passionate about ensuring that all workers are paid the correct rate for the job, however for the thousands of workers who have lost their jobs due to Carillion\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s collapse, these figures will be viewed as both eye watering and excessive,&#8221; said Unite assistant general secretary Gail Cartmail.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bPwC like all the major accountancy firms had previously worked with Carillion.
