She shared her experience with sexual harassment, saying it has \u00e2\u20ac\u015bbeen following me for the last 18 years while I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been a painter and decorator.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bSome of the guys think the banter is acceptable,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 she added. \u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe comments when I was painting the skirting of \u00e2\u20ac\u0098while you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re down there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 became part of the norm. But when I actually said to one of the guys who often said to me \u00e2\u20ac\u0098While you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re down there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 I said to him when he was fitting a bit of skirting \u00e2\u20ac\u0098Oh while you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re down there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122, he looked at me in disgust.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bAnd I said if you like that sort of thing, don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t you think I like somebody there as well sometimes? He didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t quite know what to say to me. And I said well if you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 like it being said to you then don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t say things like that to me,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 Tracey told conference to rousing applause.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>She called for separate legislation on sexual harassment because \u00e2\u20ac\u015beven managers don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know the difference.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bYou go into an office full of men and you tell them this has happened \u00e2\u20ac\u201c [they say] that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s normal isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t it? Well normal in your eyes yes but should I have to put up with it on a daily basis. Do you want me to come into this office every single time one of those guys has offended me out there?\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThey don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t understand,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 Tracey went on to say. \u00e2\u20ac\u015bThey need proper guidance for themselves, for the workforce and for everybody else so that there are clear lines.
