{"id":16813,"date":"2018-12-04T15:25:21","date_gmt":"2018-12-04T15:25:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=16813"},"modified":"2020-11-12T12:57:51","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T12:57:51","slug":"unite-plea-to-mps-vote-down-mays-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=16813","title":{"rendered":"UK deserves a better deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>As Parliament prepares to consider the Brexit deal Unite, has launched an appeal to its members and to workers across the UK to unite for a better deal.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A new Unite film outlining the perils of Theresa May\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Brexit deal was launched today (4 December) alongside the\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.uniteforabetterdeal.com\/\"><u>uniteforabetterdeal.com<\/u><\/a>\u00c2\u00a0website as the union steps up its campaign urging MPs to vote it down.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The website\u00c2\u00a0enables Unite members to write to their MP to ask them to reject the deal.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The message from Unite is: \u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe UK deserves a better deal.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The union\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s #VoteItDown campaign is calling upon the country\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s 650 MPs to reject the deal when the crunch vote is taken <a href=\"x-apple-data-detectors:\/\/5\">on 11 December<\/a>, after a five-day debate.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>The two-minute film\u00c2\u00a0focuses on the concerns of Unite members.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/e8fMVr5rh5c\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It highlights the wide ranging flaws in the prime minister\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s deal \u00e2\u20ac\u201c from the threat to the automotive industry and the dangers to the NHS from counterfeit medicines to the possibility of a \u00e2\u20ac\u0098hard\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 border between the Irish Republic and Northern Ireland \u00e2\u20ac\u201c showing why the union cannot support the deal.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As one Unite member said of the continued uncertainty, \u00e2\u20ac\u015b21 months of breathing space won\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t secure the next vital vehicle model.
