Airbus\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 <\/span>chief executive<\/span> has blasting the government\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s handling of Brexit a<\/span>s a<\/span> \u00e2\u20ac\u015bdisgrace\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/span> and warned<\/span> a<\/span> no deal scenario could force the company from the UK<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Tom Enders<\/span> said<\/span> Airbus<\/span><\/a> \u00e2\u20ac\u201c which employs<\/span> 14,000 <\/span>people <\/span>in the UK<\/span> as well as<\/span> supporting<\/span> 110,000 jobs <\/span>in the supply chain \u00e2\u20ac\u201c<\/span> could <\/span>leave<\/span> if the government crashes<\/span> Britain<\/span> out of the EU with no deal<\/span> and trading barriers are <\/span>erected.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In response to Enders\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 comments, Unite said <\/span>m<\/span>inisters and MPs must stop gambling with the futures of UK workers and their families by taking no deal off the table<\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The union also warned that it would<\/span> fight firms trying to use <\/span>Brexit<\/span><\/a> as an excuse to cut jobs<\/span>, pay,<\/span> terms <\/span>or<\/span> conditions<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In a <\/span>video message<\/span><\/a>,<\/span> Enders <\/span>t<\/span>old<\/span> people not to listen to <\/span>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bBrexiteers\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 madness\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/span> that the company was too well established in the UK to leave<\/span>,<\/span> warn<\/span>ing<\/span> that \u00e2\u20ac\u015bplenty of countries\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/span> want to be locations for its manufacturing bases. <\/span><\/p>\n

He said, \u00e2\u20ac\u015b<\/span>In a global economy the UK no longer has the capability to go it alone. Major aerospace projects are multinational affairs<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u015b<\/span>It is a disgrace that, more than two years after the result of the 2016 referendum, businesses are still unable to plan properly for the future.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe, along with many of our peers, have repeatedly called for clarity, but we still have no idea what is really going on here.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

No<\/b><\/i> deal<\/i><\/b> fantasists<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Unite assistant general secretary Steve Turner said no deal \u00e2\u20ac\u015bfantasists\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 should pay heed to Enders\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 warning<\/span>, describing Airbus as a \u00e2\u20ac\u015bpowerhouse\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 of UK <\/span>manufacturing<\/span><\/a> and a central support to local and regional economies across the country. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u015b<\/span>The consequences of a no deal Brexit on the future of the UK\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s world leading aerospace sector, its integrated supply chain and wider manufacturing would be catastrophic<\/span>,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 Turner said. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u015b<\/span>Ministers and MPs must stop gambling with the futures of UK workers and their families<\/span>.<\/span> They now must do what is best for the country by taking a no deal, hard Brexit off the table and securing the tariff-free, frictionless trade with Europe through a permanent customs union on which our manufacturing success depends.<\/span>\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/span><\/p>\n

Enders\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 comments caused particularly concern in <\/span>Wales<\/span><\/a>, where many Airbus jobs are based.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unite Wales regional secretary Peter Hughes warned the firm was \u00e2\u20ac\u015babsolutely central\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 to the future prosperity of the country. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u015b<\/span>Manufacturing is the bedrock upon which the Welsh economy is built; its protection must now take the highest priority within the UK <\/span>g<\/span>overnment<\/span>\u00e2\u20ac\u2122<\/span>s Brexit strategy<\/span>,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 he said. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u015bSurely today\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s warning from Airbus must be the point at which Theresa May fin<\/span><\/a>ally wakes up to the grave danger facing many of our key employers and removes no-deal as a possible Brexit outcome.<\/span><\/p>\n
