{"id":17411,"date":"2019-02-22T14:48:29","date_gmt":"2019-02-22T14:48:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=17411"},"modified":"2020-11-12T12:57:13","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T12:57:13","slug":"rolls-royce-managers-talks-unite","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=17411","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Historic moment&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Talks are being held with Rolls-Royce in the East Midlands about entering into a trade union recognition agreement, covering more than 2,000 managers, with Unite.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This first such agreement for managerial grades with the company would look to cover those managers at the Rolls-Royce aerospace headquarters in Derby and also at the Hucknall sites.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unite said that the managers approached the union as they felt that they needed\u00c2\u00a0 a voice in the workplace and had seen the effective way the union had represented the employees they managed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThis is a historic moment. The agreement would cover managers across all business areas from procurement to engineering,&#8221; said Unite regional secretary for the East Midlands Paresh Patel.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe managers, after careful consideration, decided that they needed a collective voice in their employment relationship with the company,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe hope to build on this solid foundation both in Rolls-Royce across the UK, as well as at other aerospace companies in the East Midlands.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unite regional officer Tony Tinley said,\u00e2\u20ac\u015bI am very proud that these managers have chosen Unite to be the vehicle for this progressive move.
