{"id":17825,"date":"2019-04-12T16:04:19","date_gmt":"2019-04-12T15:04:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=17825"},"modified":"2020-11-12T12:56:51","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T12:56:51","slug":"jobs-market-discriminates-bme-workers-says-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=17825","title":{"rendered":"Jobs market discriminates against BME workers, says report"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Black and minority ethnic (BME) workers are more than twice as likely to be stuck in insecure work as their white counterparts, new research reveals.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The TUC, which published the analysis at the start of its annual Black Workers Conference today (12 April), said the UK\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s jobs market \u00e2\u20ac\u015bis discriminating against <a href=\"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/tag\/bame\/\">BME<\/a> workers\u00e2\u20ac\u0165.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Calling for \u00e2\u20ac\u015bwidespread institutional racism\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 to be eradicated, the TUC said the government needs to implement gender pay gap-style legislation for BME workers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>TUC general secretary Frances O\u00e2\u20ac\u2122Grady said, \u00e2\u20ac\u015bFar too many BME workers are stuck in low-paid, insecure and temporary work.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThis has a huge impact on their living standards and life chances.
