We will be seeking an urgent meeting with management to discuss the business rationale for these cuts during the consultation period,&#8221; said Unite regional officer Paul Evans.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bAs recently as December, the company was offered a \u00c2\u01414.4m grant by the Welsh government in order to create 88 jobs. We are going to question what today\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s announcement\u00c2\u00a0 means for this grant.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bUnite will be doing everything possible to avoid compulsory redundancies for our members.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe company blames \u00e2\u20ac\u0098market instability\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 which, we believe, is also compounded by Brexit uncertainty.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe situation has not been helped by the lack of a coherent UK-wide manufacturing strategy by the Westminster government at this difficult time for the automotive sector and British industry generally. The Tory government has abjectly failed to deliver a joined-up blueprint for manufacturing,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe have a situation where it is much easier for companies to cut jobs and close factories than in competitor countries, such as France and Germany. The reality is that UK industry is fighting for a vibrant future with one arm tied behind its back.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It is believed that the majority of the cuts will be production jobs.
