{"id":18122,"date":"2019-05-28T15:29:03","date_gmt":"2019-05-28T14:29:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=18122"},"modified":"2020-11-12T12:56:28","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T12:56:28","slug":"manchester-metrolink-strike-off","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=18122","title":{"rendered":"Manchester Metrolink strike off"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>The strike next month by more than 200 workers on Greater Manchester\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Metrolink tram and light railway system has been called off, while the workers are balloted on a new pay offer, Unite said today (May 28).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The workers, who cover three different groups &#8211; customer support who check tickets, engineering and business support \u00e2\u20ac\u201c had been scheduled to strike on Friday, June 7 until Monday, June 10 during the Parklife Festival.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But following talks over the bank holiday weekend between Unite and the employer Keolis Amey Metrolink Ltd, which runs Metrolink on behalf of Transport for Greater Manchester, a new package covering pay and employment conditions was hammered out.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unite\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s members will now be balloted on the proposals, with a recommendation to accept. The result of the ballot will be known at the end of next week.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe had intensive talks over the bank holiday weekend with the management and we have now hammered out a package of proposals that we are putting to our members,&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0Unite regional officer Steve Davies said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe won\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t be revealing the details of the new offer until our members have had time to consider and vote upon them.
