{"id":18126,"date":"2019-05-28T16:10:24","date_gmt":"2019-05-28T15:10:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=18126"},"modified":"2020-11-12T12:56:28","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T12:56:28","slug":"bosch-job-losses-stowmarket","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=18126","title":{"rendered":"\u00e2\u20ac\u0098Body blow\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 for East Anglia\u00c2\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Unite has described the announcement of 140 job losses at the Stowmarket factory of power and garden tool manufacturer Bosch as a further \u00e2\u20ac\u0098body blow\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 for East Anglia.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bosch announced today (May 28) that 140 manufacturing jobs would be lost by the end of 2019, with work being relocated to Miskolc, Hungary.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unite is already in the process of pressing for a reversal of the decision or at least minimising the economic impact of the redundancies.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>However, there is already concern that Bosch is not prepared to enter into meaningful consultations but will just go through a \u00e2\u20ac\u0098box ticking exercise\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 over the redundancies.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Suffolk and north Essex is currently suffering a series of major job losses. The Delphi factory is due to close in Sudbury, while last week it was announced that the 2 Sisters Food Group plant in Witham will close. There have also been major job losses announced at another 2 Sisters Food Group site at Flixton (near Bungay in Suffolk) and Le Bronze Alloys (formerly Bolton Aerospace) in Ipswich.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The recent announcements will result in over 1,000 jobs being lost in the region.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe announcement of job losses at Bosch is another body blow for the region,&#8221; said Unite regional officer Neal Evans.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bUnite will be doing everything possible to either reverse the decision to transfer these skilled jobs to Hungary or to minimise redundancies.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe constant haemorrhaging of jobs in East Anglia is a direct result of government inaction.
