{"id":18399,"date":"2019-07-09T10:34:17","date_gmt":"2019-07-09T09:34:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=18399"},"modified":"2020-11-12T12:56:02","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T12:56:02","slug":"no-deal-brexit-investment-fall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=18399","title":{"rendered":"UK business investment tumbles"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>The increasing likelihood of a no-deal Brexit is pushing the UK towards the largest fall in business investment since the financial crash, business leaders have warned.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) said that business spending this year is set to drop by 1.3 per cent compared to 2018 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c the biggest decline since the 2009 recession.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"unitelive.org\/tag\/brexit\">Brexit<\/a> uncertainty is resulting in firms withholding investment, hurting the economy and risking the UK\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s competitiveness amongst the G7, the lobby group said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>CBI chief economist Rain Newton-Smith said, \u00e2\u20ac\u015bFor any business it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s hard to take spending decisions now. When the risk of a no-deal Brexit feels very real at the moment, why would you take a big decision now? You would wait and see until the end of October.
