In the\u00c2\u00a0third of our series of first-hand accounts from Unite members at St Mungo\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s on why they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re voting for strike action, we meet two more members*\u00c2\u00a0who share their stories:<\/p>\n

Since joining St Mungo\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s, originally, as a night worker, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve had my annual leave cut, because senior management has re-defined the meaning of a \u00e2\u20ac\u0098day off\u00e2\u20ac\u2122. They have tried to take away our additional hours payments for working anti-social hours.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Good colleagues have been disciplined and many dismissed for minor infringements.\u00c2\u00a0 These are people helping the most vulnerable in society and now they want to undermine our conditions through changes to junior staffing levels.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m voting for strike action because I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m tired of the way the people who made St Mungo\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the organisation it is are being treated.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The second member writes, I am voting “Yes” for a strike because I can see how the leadership team is behaving towards many of their dedicated, experienced staff.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Management have become “nasty” and that is affecting colleagues in an extremely negative way. When the staff are suffering so will our clients.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Unite\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s industrial action ballot opened on Monday, August 5 and closes on Monday, September 2.<\/p>\n
