Stopping a catastrophic no deal Brexit and an industrial strategy that supports jobs at the heart of a green economy are among the key themes for Unite at this year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s TUC Congress in Brighton, which runs from Sunday,\u00c2\u00a0 September 8 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Wednesday, September 11.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sunday (September 8) afternoon sees the Brexit debate, while Unite\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s motion on industrial strategy is expected to be moved by the union\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s general secretary Len McCluskey on Tuesday (September 10) morning. Unite\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s motion on the climate crisis and a just transition is expected to be heard later in the day on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

On the fringe Unite will be highlighting how a long hours culture and unsocial hours are taking their toll on workers\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 wellbeing and health and safety at work with the launch of its \u00e2\u20ac\u0098burning the candle at both ends\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 campaign. There will also be a celebration of 100 years of The Landworker magazine for agricultural workers.<\/p>\n

Chaired by Unite assistant general secretary Diana Holland, speakers include: Landworker editor Amanda Campbell, Unite national officer Bev Clarkson and Unite rural campaigner Ivan Monckton.<\/p>\n

Chaired by Dr Faiza Shaheen, director CLASS, speakers include: Unite assistant general secretary Diana Holland, journalists and campaigner Ellie Mae O\u00e2\u20ac\u2122Hagan, acting chair of Hazards campaign Janet Newsham plus workers from the construction, bus and haulage industries.<\/p>\n
