Take the example of the eastern European ratings sailing into Portsmouth being paid as little as \u00c2\u01412.40 per hour.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Flags of convenience<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Brennan said plight of exploited seafarers is \u00e2\u20ac\u015bthe result of the twin loopholes of \u00e2\u20ac\u0098flags of convenience\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 and so-called \u00e2\u20ac\u0098low cost\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 crewing models \u00e2\u20ac\u201c and it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a story repeated on ships arriving in international ports around our island\u00e2\u20ac\u0165.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>She added, \u00e2\u20ac\u015bIn any other industry discriminating workers based on their nationality would be a crime. We wouldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t accept it in a car plant. We wouldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t accept it on a construction site.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe wouldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t accept it on land. We won\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t accept it at sea. Unite joins with the RMT in welcoming Labour\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s commitment to implementing the Carter Report.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bFinally \u00e2\u20ac\u201c nationality-based \u00e2\u20ac\u201c pay discrimination will be outlawed Congress \u00e2\u20ac\u201c support this motion.
