{"id":18951,"date":"2019-09-21T17:07:57","date_gmt":"2019-09-21T16:07:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=18951"},"modified":"2020-11-12T12:55:33","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T12:55:33","slug":"keep-thomas-cook-flying-call","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=18951","title":{"rendered":"Keep Thomas Cook flying call"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Unite called on the UK government yesterday (Sepember 20) to intervene and ensure the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) does not remove Thomas Cook airline\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s operating licence.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The union, which represents nearly 3,000 cabin crew and engineers at Thomas Cook\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s airline, stressed that airline is viable both financially and operationally and warned that the removal of it operator licence would be nothing short of \u00e2\u20ac\u0098economic vandalism.\u00e2\u20ac\u2122<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe are deeply concerned about the current situation at Thomas Cook, particularly any moves by the government or the Civil Aviation Authority that would lead to the business and airline ceasing to operate,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 commented Unite assistant general secretary Diana Holland.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bIt is clearly in the best interests of the employees, customers and the taxpayer for the airline to continue operate. This is viable, profitable business with a world class workforce. Any revoking of its operating licence would be an act of economic vandalism, the bill for which would needlessly land on the shoulders of UK taxpayers.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Holland continued, \u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe call on government ministers to secure a better outcome for the travelling public, employees and the taxpayer by not revoking or suspending the operator licence for Thomas Cook airlines.
