{"id":19107,"date":"2019-09-26T16:38:41","date_gmt":"2019-09-26T15:38:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=19107"},"modified":"2020-11-12T12:55:09","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T12:55:09","slug":"hackney-strike-payments-disabled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=19107","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Enough is enough&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>A 48-hour strike by drivers and passenger escorts on school buses for disabled children in Hackney will be staged next month due to \u00e2\u20ac\u0098continued council intransigence\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 in a dispute over payments for working split shifts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unite said its 38 members, who drive and assist the children to and from school on a daily basis, will strike for 48 hours on Wednesday, October 9 starting at\u00c2\u00a0just after midnight.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The dispute centres on a \u00c2\u014150 a week claim for compensation for the split shifts, backdated to July last year when the issue was first raised. Unite said this claim is based on the next grade in the Green Book national agreement which the union believes is the correct one for this group of workers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The new strike follows six 24-hour strikes over the summer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bOur members will again be taking strike action because of the council\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s continued intransigence to take the issue of payments for split shifts seriously over the last year,&#8221; said Unite regional officer Onay Kasab.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe bosses\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 proposals do nothing to improve the pay of our members who provide this vital service.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWhen an employer fails to take our members seriously, we have no other option but to take strike action \u00e2\u20ac\u201c it is always a last resort.
