{"id":19546,"date":"2019-11-25T16:33:52","date_gmt":"2019-11-25T16:33:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=19546"},"modified":"2020-11-12T12:54:52","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T12:54:52","slug":"unite-london-uber-decision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=19546","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Level playing field&#8217; call"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Unite has welcomed the decision of Transport for London (TfL) not to renew Uber\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s licence in the capital.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jim Kelly, chair of Unite\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s London and Eastern cab section, said, \u00e2\u20ac\u015bUnite welcomes the decision of TfL not to renew Uber\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s licence as there remains fundamental problems in the way the company operates, particularly issues around passenger safety.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bAll the taxi trade wants is a level playing field,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bUber\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s DNA is about driving down standards and creating a race to the bottom which is not in the best interests of professional drivers or customers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bUber has a history of undermining licencing regimes.
