{"id":19835,"date":"2020-01-22T16:36:58","date_gmt":"2020-01-22T16:36:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=19835"},"modified":"2020-11-12T12:54:34","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T12:54:34","slug":"jlr-job-cuts-halewood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=19835","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Fresh blow to car industry&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Unite has described the announcement that there will further job losses at JLR\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Halewood plant in Merseyside as a \u00e2\u20ac\u0098fresh blow to the car industry\u00e2\u20ac\u2122.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unite understands that the redundancies are a result of the ongoing macro-economic uncertainty with slower than forecast rate of growth of the Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Discovery Sport models that are produced at Halewood.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The job losses are a result of moving from a three shift system to a two plus shift system that will deliver flexibility efficiencies that longer term should benefit both employees and the company, which is set to come into effect from this April.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The job losses comprise a mixture of permanent employees and agency staff and accounts for over 10 per cent of the plant\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s workforce.
