{"id":21245,"date":"2020-05-01T16:29:02","date_gmt":"2020-05-01T15:29:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=21245"},"modified":"2020-05-01T16:29:02","modified_gmt":"2020-05-01T15:29:02","slug":"another-premature-announcement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=21245","title":{"rendered":"\u00e2\u20ac\u0098Another premature announcement\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 \u00c2\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Unite air industry members were again reeling today (Friday May 1) from the news that Ryanair has announced plans to make 3,000 of its workers in Europe redundant \u00e2\u20ac\u201c as well as making cuts to staff\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s pay.<\/p>\n<p>The \u00e2\u20ac\u0098no frills\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 airline\u00c2\u00a0is planning to cut 15 per cent of its 20,000-strong workforce and reduce staff pay by up to a fifth, in response, it says to the Covid-19 crisis. The airline has grounded its flights.<\/p>\n<p>Ryanair added it did not expect passenger numbers or pricing to return to pre-coronavirus levels until summer 2022 at the earliest.<\/p>\n<p>Ryanair said it had entered the coronavirus crisis with reserves of almost \u00e2\u201a\u00ac4bn in cash and continued to &#8220;actively manage&#8221; those resources in order to survive the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>As part of a programme of sweeping cost cuts, Ryanair said it could close a number of bases across Europe until air travel recovers.
