{"id":21891,"date":"2020-06-03T15:16:34","date_gmt":"2020-06-03T14:16:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=21891"},"modified":"2020-06-04T13:36:49","modified_gmt":"2020-06-04T12:36:49","slug":"there-must-be-consequences-for-bas-actions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=21891","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;There must be consequences for BA&#8217;s actions&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unite is calling for a government review of British Airways\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 landing slots amid the airline\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s betrayal of its workers and the British public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unite has welcomed today\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s (June 3) debate in the House of Commons which raised the issue of BA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s landing slots and highlighted BA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s plans to effectively \u00e2\u20ac\u0098fire and rehire\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 its workforce, bringing back those that survive on inferior terms and conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BA controls a large number of UK landing slots, including more than half at Heathrow Airport due to legacy rights. There should be consequences to BA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s actions, the airline should not automatically have rights to these slots as it plans to&nbsp;destroy British Airways as we know it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unite general secretary, Len McCluskey said, \u00e2\u20ac\u015bBA is using this health crisis as cover to impose a long-term plan to slash jobs, pay and conditions.\u00c2\u00a0No other employer has threatened to effectively \u00e2\u20ac\u0098fire and rehire\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 its workforce.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThere should be\u00c2\u00a0a government review of British Airways\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 domination of\u00c2\u00a0UK\u00c2\u00a0landing slots amid the airline\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s betrayal of its workers and the British public,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThere must be consequences to BA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s actions, the airline should not automatically have rights to landing\u00c2\u00a0slots as it plans to destroy British Airways as we know it.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe public, celebrities and politicians have responded with anger when they learn about British Airways\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 plans.
