{"id":22333,"date":"2020-06-25T12:34:50","date_gmt":"2020-06-25T11:34:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=22333"},"modified":"2020-06-29T12:48:18","modified_gmt":"2020-06-29T11:48:18","slug":"furlough-pay-grab-outrage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=22333","title":{"rendered":"Furlough pay grab outrage"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Unite has today (June 25) warned London City airport that it will take legal action on behalf of members \u00e2\u20ac\u201c unless the company keeps\u00c2\u00a0its promises regarding workers\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 pay.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic London City Airport temporarily closed its doors and the vast majority of its workforce were furloughed.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Workers were informed in writing that while they were on furlough they would receive 100 per cent\u00c2\u00a0of their\u00c2\u00a0pay \u00e2\u20ac\u201c but when they began to be paid it became apparent that they were only receiving 100 per cent of their basic pay.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This has meant that part-time workers are losing between \u00c2\u0141600\u00e2\u20ac\u201c\u00c2\u0141900 a month, and full-time workers up to \u00c2\u01412,000 a month.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bLondon City Airport committed to paying its workers 100 per cent while they were on furlough,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 commented Unite regional officer, Mercedes Sanchez.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bIt is now guilty of trying to move the goalposts and using sleight of hand to reduce employees\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 earnings.
