{"id":22638,"date":"2020-07-09T16:50:12","date_gmt":"2020-07-09T15:50:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=22638"},"modified":"2020-07-09T16:50:12","modified_gmt":"2020-07-09T15:50:12","slug":"britain-we-need-our-steel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=22638","title":{"rendered":"Britain, we need our steel"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>Britain\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s three steel unions, Unite, GMB and Community, today (July 9) launched a joint campaign for the future of the steel industry in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the \u00e2\u20ac\u0098Britain, We Need Our Steel\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 campaign, the unions are calling for the infrastructure and investment programme announced by Boris Johnson to aid the country\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s economic recovery from coronavirus to use steel produced in Britain to support the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unite assistant general secretary Steve Turner said, \u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe UK steel industry is central to any post Covid-19 recovery and rebuild strategy \u00e2\u20ac\u201c supporting new infrastructure build from hospitals and schools to rail and energy generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bIt is ready to provide the steel to renew our naval fleet and transition our auto industry to electric vehicles.
