{"id":2590,"date":"2014-12-23T14:41:44","date_gmt":"2014-12-23T14:41:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=2590"},"modified":"2014-12-23T14:41:44","modified_gmt":"2014-12-23T14:41:44","slug":"prime-minister-scrooge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=2590","title":{"rendered":"Prime Minister Scrooge"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>In the run-up to further strike action next year from overworked and underpaid NHS staff, representatives from Unite, along with other leading health unions, presented a Christmas card to prime minister David Cameron this morning (December 23).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nAt the gates of 10 Downing Street, six petitioners gathered, dressed in their NHS uniforms, to present the prime minister with a card showing him as Scrooge, to highlight the government\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s continued refusal to grant the health service a mere one per cent pay rise as recommended by its own pay review body.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nFurther strike action by health workers is planned for the newy on 29 January and 25 February with a significant escalation in action short of a strike as well.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nUnite head of health Rachael Maskell said this morning was a strong success.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u015bIt went really well,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 she said. \u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe sent a very clear message that we won\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t back down.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u015bAll NHS staff want for Christmas is the one per cent pay rise recommended by the independent pay review body.
