{"id":28138,"date":"2021-03-23T09:42:24","date_gmt":"2021-03-23T09:42:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=28138"},"modified":"2021-03-24T11:53:06","modified_gmt":"2021-03-24T11:53:06","slug":"never-forget-that-there-is-hope","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=28138","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Never forget that there is hope&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>Today, March 23rd, has been declared a National Day of Reflection, a moment for us to stop for a minute and reflect upon the lives lost and the millions bereaved by this dreadful Covid-19 disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nearly 150,000 of our fellow citizens have lost their lives to this sickness, leaving families and loved ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While we have so many pressing questions that need answering about why this virus took so many lives in this country, the day of reflection is about remembering those lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Marie Curie charity has organised this day of reflection.\u00c2\u00a0 They are asking that<strong>\u00c2\u00a0at noon today we observe a minute&#8217;s silence in honour of those lost.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>At 8pm, national landmarks will be lit up in yellow and we\u00c2\u00a0are invited to show solidarity by standing on our doorsteps<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0or displaying yellow in the windows of homes and workplaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our union will also be marking this day of national reflection.&nbsp; I know that you will mark the midday silence in your own way, and that you will send your support to our members as they do so too in their workplaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Never forget that there is hope.&nbsp; The vaccine programme offers a bridge to a safer future, and there will be better days ahead.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our solidarity, our support for one another, has got us through this past year.\u00c2\u00a0 Today, we stand together once again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>By Len McCluskey, Unite general secretary<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can find out more information on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mariecurie.org.uk\/get-involved\/day-of-reflection\">Marie Curie and the day of reflection here.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today, March 23rd, has been declared a National Day of Reflection, a moment for us to stop for a minute and reflect upon the lives lost and the millions bereaved by this dreadful Covid-19 disease.
