{"id":2888,"date":"2015-01-28T16:24:40","date_gmt":"2015-01-28T16:24:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=2888"},"modified":"2015-01-29T12:31:20","modified_gmt":"2015-01-29T12:31:20","slug":"strike-dates-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=2888","title":{"rendered":"Strike dates announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Unite urged London\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s 18 bus operators to enter into collective talks to avoid the disruption of further strike action as it announced three 24-hour London-wide bus strikes today (Wednesday 28 January).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nThe latest stoppages, running from 12:01am to 23:59pm on Thursday (February 5), Friday (February 13) and Monday (February 16), follow a continued refusal by London\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s bus operators to enter into collective talks over ending unfair pay disparities.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nA 24-hour London-wide bus strike earlier in January saw bus services across the capital brought to a standstill as over 20,000 bus workers walked out as part of a campaign to secure one collective forum to discuss agreement for pay and conditions for London\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s bus workers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe have been working tirelessly in our efforts to bring the employers to the table to discuss a solution to this dispute,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 said Unite regional officer Wayne King.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe firmly believe that there is a simple solution to be had but sadly the refusal by the operators to engage in collective talks is risking the inevitable disruption that strike action will bring to passengers,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 he added.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe travelling public understand that further strike action is the last resort and can be avoided if the operators agree to talk collectively about the pay chaos on London\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s buses. Bus passengers pay one fare, so why don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t bus drivers get paid the same rate for doing the same job?\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 King argued.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe urge London\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s bus operators to see sense and collectively engage in talks to give London\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s bus workers a fair deal.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<br \/>\nIn contrast to tube drivers, there isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t one collective pay deal for bus drivers in the capital, whose pay is negotiated on a company by company basis, leading to pay inequality and disparities.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nThere are over 80 different pay rates covering London\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s bus drivers, doing the same job, even driving the same route, but for different rates of pay.
