{"id":29525,"date":"2021-07-19T13:06:02","date_gmt":"2021-07-19T12:06:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=29525"},"modified":"2021-07-20T16:21:03","modified_gmt":"2021-07-20T15:21:03","slug":"jde-fire-and-rehire-dispute-latest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=29525","title":{"rendered":"JDE &#8216;fire and rehire&#8217; dispute latest"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Workers at JDE (Jacobs Douwe Egberts) in Banbury, Oxfordshire will be balloted on a new pay and employment conditions\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 package that removes the management\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s proposal to \u00e2\u20ac\u0098fire and rehire\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 staff, Unite the union said today (July 19).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unite and the management have held three weeks of intensive talks in a bid to resolve the dispute affecting 291 employees at the Ruscote Avenue site which had seen a rolling programme of industrial action, currently suspended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The details of the package will remain confidential while it is communicated to Unite\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s members this week. There will then be a ballot of the workers on whether to accept the deal which should be completed by the end of the first week of August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The key components of the package include removal of the management\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s controversial \u00e2\u20ac\u0098hire and fire\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 proposal; safeguarding pay and employment conditions; and generous compensation if an employee has to change shifts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unite national officer for the food industry Joe Clarke said, \u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe have had three weeks of intensive negotiations with the management.
