{"id":29731,"date":"2021-08-10T16:36:45","date_gmt":"2021-08-10T15:36:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=29731"},"modified":"2021-08-10T16:36:47","modified_gmt":"2021-08-10T15:36:47","slug":"dhl-workers-at-jlr-plants-prepare-for-strike-ballot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=29731","title":{"rendered":"DHL workers at JLR plants prepare for strike ballot"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>DHL workers at Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) plants in the West Midlands and Merseyside are preparing to be balloted for strike action over wage arrears and an\u00c2\u00a0\u00e2\u20ac\u0098insulting\u00e2\u20ac\u2122pay offer, Unite said today (Tuesday 10 August 2021).<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of DHL drivers and warehouse operatives have been plagued by incorrect pay slips for months due to the company\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s use of flexible furlough, with some staff owed up to \u00c2\u0141800 in arrears.<\/p>\n<p>Anger at the arrears\u00c2\u00a0<strong><em>\u00e2\u20ac\u0098<\/em><\/strong>debacle\u00e2\u20ac\u2122\u00c2\u00a0has been further stoked by DHL\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s refusal to offer a reasonable rise during recent pay negotiations with Unite.<\/p>\n<p>The union will now begin the process of balloting its more than 2,000 DHL members for strike action at JLR\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s plants in\u00c2\u00a0Halewood, Castle Bromwich, Solihull, Tyrefort, Midpoint\u00c2\u00a0and\u00c2\u00a0Hams Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Unite national officer Matt Draper said, \u00e2\u20ac\u015bIf our members had performed their duties in the same manner as DHL has handled the issue of flexible furlough pay, they would have been sacked.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bDHL are the biggest logistics company in the world, yet they cannot get people\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s pay right. It is pitiful that a company this size has a pay roll department that is currently not fit for purpose.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe whole thing is a debacle and the workforce is rapidly losing patience that the pay issues have still not been sorted out. It is outrageous that some staff are owed nearly \u00c2\u01411,000 in back pay.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bAdding insult to injury, DHL has come back with a completely insulting pay offer for its hard working and loyal Solihull staff.
