{"id":3120,"date":"2015-02-24T15:45:47","date_gmt":"2015-02-24T15:45:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=3120"},"modified":"2015-02-24T15:45:47","modified_gmt":"2015-02-24T15:45:47","slug":"playing-chicken-workers-jobs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=3120","title":{"rendered":"Playing chicken with workers\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 jobs?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Potential job losses are on the horizon, as it was revealed on Friday (February 20) that a poultry plant employing almost 800 people in North Wales would be cutting an entire shift, significantly reducing the workforce.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nBut Unite leaders have been working around the clock in intense negotiations with plant owner 2 Sisters, one of the largest private sector employers in the Anglesey town of Llangefni.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nAfter hours-long meetings held this week, Unite regional organiser Paddy McNaught said they were able to stem many of the planned redundancies, but added that nonetheless more than 200 jobs would likely go.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThese job losses will have a significant impact on the area,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 McNaught explained. \u00e2\u20ac\u015bMuch of the work available locally is minimum wage. There aren\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t many opportunities here.
